The Best Diet To Lose 100 Lbs - Simple Steps to Get You Started

Have you decided to lose 100 lbs or more, but don't know where to start? Well, you've come to the right article. Losing 100 lbs usually seems like an insurmountable goal, but it doesn't have to be when you get committed and have a good plan. The choices you make each day will make the difference in the long run, so don't forget it. Losing 100 lbs won't happen overnight, but you can do it if you follow this advice. Here some guidelines to get you started.

See The Goal

In order to lose a lot of weight, you need to set a very specific goal, and while "lose 100 lbs" isn't as specific as it sounds, there is a better way. The best way to set a goal is to state it in the positive. Focus on how much you will weigh after you lose your weight. So, if you weight 300 lbs now and you want to lose 100, you will weigh 200 lbs when you finish. Instead of focusing on an abstract action, losing weight, focus on how much you will weigh when you finish.

Picture It

Close your eyes for a moment, can you picture what a hundred pounds of fat looks like? Better yet, can you actually picture "losing 100 lbs?" Probably not because it is an action, not a goal. You need to picture what you will look and feel like after you lose weight. Think about how your body will feel when it is feeling lighter, thinner and healthier. When you give your mind feelings and pictures to focus on, you are much more likely to achieve the goal.

Plan For It

When you decide to lose any amount of weight, it is best that you have a good proven system. It is best that the plan you choose is guaranteed and will keep you losing weight consistently, without weight loss plateaus.

Be sure that the system you choose includes both a diet plan and an exercise plan so that you will be doing everything in your power to slim down quickly. I'm sure you want to reach your goals sooner rather than later, right? Stay committed to your plan and you will. Too many people don't stay committed to their plans, they start then quit and fail. Don't end up like them. Be sure when you start your plan that you will be able to follow it through to the end.

Low Carb, Low Fat, and Other Fad Diets

Note: Diets that advise you to exclude important nutrient groups might get you instant results, but they are guaranteed to lead to weight gain later on.

While cutting carbs or fat may help you lose weight at first, what is the cost of this weight loss? Usually when you drop carbohydrates, your body will begin something called dietary ketosis. This is a condition where your body releases water from the cells, your initial weight loss, then begins to eat away at fat and muscle. So why is this bad, you're losing weight. It's bad because while you lose water weight and fat, you also begin to lose muscle. This leads to problems later on. It's best if you find a well balanced nutrition plan that you know you can stick to, after all, losing fat is what's important, and you have to know you can succeed.

Just Say No

Once you have your goal in your mind, stay focused. It is very easy to overeat when you're out with friends or at business lunches, but if you intend to make your goal as quickly as possible, you need to say "no." This may sound easy right now, but when the time comes, and when it involves food, it's often much harder than it seems.

Junk food is just good, we can all agree on that, that's why we buy it and that's why we love it. That's why McDonalds does so well. We all know it's not good for us, but we all sit in our cars at the fast food drive through and eat it anyway, because it tastes good. This is fine every once in a while, but it's not such a good thing if we do it too often. That's when the problem starts.

Clean Out Your Cupboards

If you are going to succeed, you need to get rid of your vice food. This means any food that is your vice. Maybe it's ice cream, chocolate or potato chips. Whatever it is, you have to get it out of your house so that it won't tempt you when you're feeling weak. This is one of the biggest reasons diets fail, junk food is tempting and easy to get to. Don't allow yourself to fall into this trap. Get rid of your vice food until you've reached your goal.

Tell Friends, Be Accountable

When you intend to lose weight, you need to let your friends and family know. Tell them you plan to lose weight and that you are very serious about it. Ask for their help to stay on track. If your friends struggle with weight loss, let them know how committed you are. Often our closest friends won't be as committed to their health as we are, and will accidentally tempt us to sweet snacks or a nice meal with friends. Ask for their help to stay on track and let them know how committed you are.

Some of your friends may surprise you and jump on board to support your weight loss. Some of your friends may just step aside and let you do your thing, whatever the case, these friends will be the ones to help you succeed.

If your friends and family are resistant to you changing, get a coach or mentor, or, if you have to, healthier friends that will help you succeed. If worse comes to worst, you can move forward alone. After all, you are the only one that can make this happen and you are the only one who will finish it.

Treat Yourself

Even though you have to eat healthy to lose weight, it's important that you occasionally get to indulge. When you get a plan that keeps you burning fat consistently, you are less likely to get discouraged and can fulfill some of your cravings. If you don't indulge occasionally, you will eventually fall off the wagon and put your weight loss to a screeching halt. Doing this just isn't worth it. There are diet plans that let you cheat sometimes, and still lose weight. You aren't a robot, you need to eat sweets sometimes.

Eating cake or having fast food occasionally is just fine, but doing it at the wrong times can send you moving back up the scale, rather than down. Your diet plan must have flexibility built into it. There are plans available that let you eat your favorite foods while still losing weight.

You Can Lose 100 lbs

The simple steps outlined above will help you lose 100 lbs safely and easily. Just follow the steps, stay committed and get a good plan. It's up to you to take action and when you do, you will be amazed by the results. Think about how nice it will be when you're lighter, healthier and feeling great. If you can imagine it, you can do it.

Stop Undoing Your Ab Developing Efforts

Stop Undoing Your Ab Developing Efforts
by Raymon Broadwater

We all really want stronger, harder, prettier abdominal muscles. This is the key reason that we devote such volumes of time exercising and worrying over even the slightest hint of “muffin tops”. Sadly, even when you spend time at the fitness center every day in an effort to stay toned and fit, there are some things that you are probably doing that is making it harder for you to reach your goals. In this article we are going to check out some of the things that could be keeping your belly flabby.

Do you view a great deal of television? Obviously periodically lying on the couch and watching a couple of television shows is exactly what you need to do to feel better about something. Maybe youve had a hard day, maybe youre stressed out, and maybe you just need a day to decompress. At the same time new research show that people who spend more than a couple of hours per day sitting and watching television are ten percent more likely to have weak muscles in their back and in their abdomen. The simplest way to attempt to counter this is to exercise while watching television. Obviously this will work much better if you are likely to be training at home.

How often do you let your anxiety levels get to the breaking point? When you work in an exceedingly demanding job or your home life is amazingly stressful, this could be hindering the effort you are putting in when you work out. People who put up with constant stress levels along with anxiety issues are more likely to have flabby abs. You might help yourself by studying good relaxation techniques and keeping your stress levels at a minimum. There are a lot of excellent breathing methods that will help you keep your stress levels at a manageable level.

Eating snacks the later part of during the night may also be contributing to your flabby middle, even though you work out each day. Snacking and then going straight to bed means that your meals are more likely to basically be stored for when you need it. At night if we sleep all of our bodys systems slow down so the body isnt as likely to start burning off that snack right away. Keep your snacking amounts decreased and do not eat anything at all for at least a couple of hours before you go to bed.

There are some who will explain that you should keep away from bread if you want to keep your abs in good shape. This is really up to you–studies have confirmed that bread may be both good for your energy and nutrition levels and studies that show bread does nothing but make you fat. Ask a family doctor what kind of information or advice is the most relevant to you and the rest of your body.

Keeping ab muscles good involves a lot more than just working out for a couple of hours each day. You should keep to your task even though you aren’t at the gym. Watch your intake of food, when you take it in as well as your levels of stress.

Conquering Weight Loss Cravings In A Imaginative and Different Approach

Conquering Weight Loss Cravings In A Imaginative and Different Approach
by Vanessa Summer

Attempting to get rid of excess weight and finally giving up cigarette smoking are much the same in a significant way. If you want to become successful with either one, you need a strong desire to do it. This motivation means there is crystal clear determination, and that’s what can make a huge difference. Just like every single idea begins with a thought, every motivation comes from the seed of desire. Should you really wish to become a force, then you need to blend that with one more thing. This tactic is very personal and unique to your life and overall values, or that which you hold most significant to you.

Try to find authentic and powerful reasons which could serve to energize your desire and determination. This is also linked to setting goals, and they’re truly powerful additions. Whenever you work with goals, then you are taking that which is in your thoughts and making it more real. You have something that is genuine and highly desired. The best way you can figure out where you need to go is by making a powerful and personal goal. It is very hard to know how to get somewhere unless you know where you want to go. You are not looking at the whole picture if you look at weight loss as purely eating a smaller amount.

There are contrasting reasons for reducing your weight, even with you, and it is your task to uncover them. Certainly this is an activity that will be completely one-of-a-kind to you. You may need to lose weight for specific health reasons like being diabetic, or trending toward diabetes. If you’re overweight, then maybe your knee and hip joints are leading to difficulties as a consequence of weight. Purely enhancing your overall health for your spouse and children could be a terrific reason. Or, not surprisingly, you want to avoid the numerous possible health problems that may occur as you get older. These are just a handful of good examples that may serve as tangible reasons to drop some weight.

The common outcome for many people is they lose momentum once they have initiated their weight loss program. A lot of people find that starting some kind of program is not the issue. The genuinely tricky part is preserving that advanced of desire and enthusiasm. Perhaps after a few days or maybe a calendar month, then the effort starts slipping and slacking off. What can keep you heading beyond the point where others stop trying is your motivation and strength of your desire. But if you keep centered on your factors behind losing weight, then that can help keep your levels where they need to be.

Ultimately you can expect to arrive at a place where even your goals may feel less powerful. This is natural behavior and responses, and this is when positive support from family and friends can make the real difference. Perhaps you may want to make a increased effort to help maintain positive focus and simply attempt to keep moving forward.

Yoga for Weight Loss?

It can help you find your bliss, and some say yoga may also help you shed those extra pounds.

By Colette Bouchez

Reviewed By Louise Chang, MD

Jennifer Aniston does it. Reports are that Liv Tyler, Halle Berry, Madonna, David Duchovny and supermodel Christy Turlington do it, too. Many professional athletes are said to be doing it in an effort to improve their games.

The "it" is yoga, a sophisticated mind-body exercise many believe can do everything from tighten your buns to change your outlook on life.

But can this no-strain, work-at-your-own-level exercise really help you lose weight?

It's true most types of yoga don't have anything near the calorie-burning power of aerobic exercise. A 150-pound person will burn 150 calories in an hour of doing regular yoga, compared to 311 calories for an hour of walking at 3 mph. But it is exercise, after all, and many practitioners believe yoga can indeed help people take off extra pounds.

"Yoga is a phenomenal way to put you in touch with your body the way nothing else can, and yes, it can help you lose weight," says instructor Dana Edison, director of Radius Yoga in North Redding, Mass., and a certified personal trainer with the American College of Sports Medicine.

Celebrity yoga trainers Ana Brett and Ravi Singh, who have worked with such hotties as Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow, also believe in yoga's weight-loss powers.

"We have seen it in ourselves, we have seen it in our clients - yoga can give you a real workout even if you are a beginner," says Brett, who, with Singh, created the best-selling DVD program Fat Free Yoga.

How Does It Work?

In 2005, medical researcher and practicing yogi Alan Kristal, DPH, MPH, set out to do a medical study on the weight-loss effects of yoga.

With funding from the National Cancer Institute, Kristal and colleagues at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle led a trial involving 15,500 healthy, middle-aged men and women. All completed a survey recalling their physical activity (including yoga) and their weight between the ages of 45 and 55. Researchers then analyzed the data, teasing out other factors that could influence weight change - such as diet or other forms of exercise.

The end result: They found yoga could indeed help people shed pounds, or at least keep them from gaining weight.

"Those practicing yoga who were overweight to start with lost about 5 pounds during the same time period those not practicing yoga gained 14 pounds," says Kristal.

For the study, he says, practicing yoga was defined as at least one 30-minute session per week for four or more years.

Kristal says it's not clear just how yoga might help people keep off the pounds, at least from a scientific standpoint. His own opinion is that the effects are subtle, and related to yoga's mind-body aspects.

"The buzzword here is mindfulness -- the ability to observe what is happening internally in a non-reactive fashion," he says. "That is what helps change the relationship of mind to body, and eventually to food and eating."

Adds Edison: "Yoga makes you more susceptible to influence for change - so if you are thinking you want to change your lifestyle, you want to change the way you think about food, you want to get over destructive eating patterns, yoga will help give you the spiritual connection to your body that can help you make those changes."

Another idea is that yoga forges a strong mind-body connection that ultimately helps make you more aware of what you eat and how it feels to be full.

"Essentially, in yoga you learn your body is not your enemy, and the conscious awareness of the body that you gain translates into better appetite control," Edison says.

Power Yoga: The New Attitude

While some say yoga is too tame for extreme weight loss, many devotees of the practice known as "power yoga" disagree.

Power yoga is an Americanized version of traditional Kundalini techniques. Instructors like Singh and Brett believe it can offer all the fat-burning potential - and heart benefits -- of an aerobic workout.

While traditional types of yoga are based on breathing techniques paired with static poses, Singh says, power yoga combines meditative breathing with faster, more active movements. The result, he says, is a workout that can be more aerobic than . . . aerobics!

"Aerobic means to exercise in the presence of oxygen, so when you are doing the traditional yoga breathing along with the more active exercises, you're doing exactly that," he says. "Our 'breath of fire' technique, for example, is one of many we use to help you burn calories while you breathe."

Edison concedes power yoga may help some people lose weight, but she questions whether it could work for the yoga novice, or the average out-of-shape dieter.

"Can yoga build muscle? Yes. Is a fast-paced, power class aerobic? Sometimes. And can you sweat out water weight in a 105-degree room? Sure. But can the average overweight person effectively shed pounds through a one-size-fits-all physical yoga practice? Not realistically or safely," Edison tells WebMD.

What about using power yoga to jump-start a weight loss plan? Kristal says even the most forceful power yoga techniques won't equal the health benefits of a cardiovascular workout -- nor will yoga ever burn calories quickly at a significant level.

"It's just not medically feasible - it's not going to happen," he says.

Still, Brett and Singh say they've seen firsthand that it can work, even for beginners.

"People come to yoga for many different reasons, but we have seen many success stories in terms of losing weight and learning to control weight," says Brett. "Active yoga, even for the novice, can change your body and your life."

Making Yoga Work for You

One thing all our experts agree on is that yoga can be a terrific introduction to the world of fitness.
To help get you started, they offer these tips:

1.Practice in a room without mirrors, and put the emphasis on your internal experience rather than your outer performance.

2.Learn to experience the sensation of movement, down to the tiniest micro movement.

3.Always try to find your "edge" -- the place where your body feels challenged, but not overwhelmed. When you achieve this, keep an open, accepting state of mind.

4.Give yourself permission to rest when you're tired.

5.Combine your yoga session with positive self-talk. Appreciate your efforts and praise your inner goodness.

6.Go to class faithfully. If you work out at home, set a specific day and time for your yoga session and stick to it.

7.Recognize that you are not only working on your body, but are also working to develop qualities like patience, discipline, wisdom, kindness and gratitude.

8.Look for a teacher (in a class or on video) who you feel offers a balance between gentleness and firmness, and who inspires you to practice.

9.Recognize that simply buying a yoga DVD or attending the class is a step toward creating a better you. Use it as momentum to keep going.

10.Realize your efforts are not just inspiring you, but also inspiring others as you become more attuned to who you are, inside and out.

Lose Weight Fast - Is quick weight loss possible?

I think it's pretty safe to assume that no one wants to lose weight slowly. No, they want to lose it fast. But, in order to truly understand quick weight loss, you'd really first need to understand that there are two different kinds.

There's the impossible kind, and then there's the unsafe kind.

Let's start with the impossible.

The impossible way to lose weight fast.

Wait. Hold on. What?!?

Are you serious? You really thought this article was going to be about the amazingly safe and very-much-possible ways that you can actually lose weight fast? HA! I don't mean to laugh, but... HA! Sorry. It doesn't mean you are stupid for thinking that quick weight loss is actually possible and/or safe. It just means you watch TV, read magazines, and are a normal human being living on the planet earth.

You see, it is the jobs of so many people to put the idea of quick weight loss into your head. They spend millions of dollars trying to do just that. They want you to want it, hope for it, and believe in it. Oh, and they also want you to buy whatever weight loss or diet pill, product, or supplement they are trying to sell you in order to make these supposed rapid results happen.

This is the type of quick weight loss that I have nicknamed the "impossible" type. It's the type that only exists in some sort of diet product fantasy world where lies really do come true. In the real world however, they are just plain old lies.

You can't really blame these people though. Ok, you can. But I mean, how many diet pills do you think they'd sell if they claimed they would make you lose weight slowly? Or if the big tag-line of some fitness product was "Buy this fitness product so you can lose weight at the normal recommended speed!!" They probably wouldn't make too much money like that, and, if you didn't already know, weight loss is all about making money.

That's typically why the only real time you see, hear, or think the phrase "lose weight fast" is when something is being sold to you. For example, how many amazing before and after pictures have you seen? And, after seeing them, how many times have you wished that you could get those same results just as quick and easy as they say they did?

Well, here's a quick tip. As soon as before and after pictures are presented to you in an attempt to prove some type of diet or weight loss product actually works (and works fast), you should run far, far away. Stop watching, stop reading, stop listening. It's all lies. Every person, every word.

- They are paid actors and models.
- They all looked that good long before whatever quick weight loss product they are advertising was even invented.
- The pictures are fake.
- They are heads on different bodies.
- They are 6 months apart instead of 6 weeks apart.
- The lighting has been changed.
- The person is flexing and smiling instead of slouching and frowning.
- They were ugly and pale, now they're pretty and tan.
- The "after" picture is really the before picture, and they then had this in-shape person purposely gain weight to create a "before" picture.

Something, somehow, in someway, is a lie.

Equally fake are the claims that they were able to lose weight fast. "I lost 30 pounds in just 2 weeks!" The only way you're going to lose that much weight that fast is if you are involved in some kind of chainsaw accident. Seriously, any weight loss claim that seems way too good to be true always is. Remember that.

As unfortunate as this may sound, there is just no way to lose such crazy amounts of weight in such short periods of time. It's just impossible. The only people that will tell you anything different are the wonderful people trying to sell you something. They will throw pictures, testimonials, money back guarantees, celebrities, and the kitchen sink at you in order to get you to believe it.

And, just so you know, this whole thing about fast weight loss being impossible isn't just my own personal opinion. Even the government is in full agreement. There are many articles on the Federal Trade Commission's web site that basically confirm everything I just said. For example, this one and this one.

The unsafe way to lose weight fast.

And then there's the unsafe kind. The unsafe kind involves doing all sorts of crazy, unsafe, unhealthy and all around dangerous things for the sole purpose of losing more weight than you should in a very short period of time. Typically this type of quick weight loss is mentioned as a result of diets that involve eating mostly one specific "special" food.

As you should already know, your body needs a lot of things. For example, protein, carbs, fat, and vitamins. Eating one "special" food will not allow you to get the nutrients your body needs daily to function properly. Not to mention, all you really end up losing on these types of crash diets is water, not fat. When your diet returns to normal, so will your weight.

The other supposed way to successfully lose weight fast is by reducing your calorie intake by way too much, way too quick. Yes, The Lose Weight Diet is all about calorie reduction, however, it's all about an extremely slow and extremely small calorie reduction. We're talking 500 calories below your maintenance level. That is what will cause you to lose 1 or 2 pounds per week, and this is the rate that all the experts recommend and consider safe and healthy and just plain right. And when I say "experts," I'm referring to doctors and other highly trained smart people who aren't trying to sell you something.

On the other hand, these way-too-low-calorie diets go much lower than that, much faster. This is unhealthy and potentially quite dangerous. For one thing, your body will go into a state where it purposely stops you from losing fat because it senses something is wrong and tries to keep you alive. Plus, as I explain in The Ultimate Fat Loss Program, reducing your calorie intake by too much too quickly greatly increases your chances of losing muscle instead of fat.

The bottom line...

There is no diet pill or supplement, there is no fitness product or machine, there is no weight loss program or system... there is just nothing that will make you lose weight fast in a manner that is A) actually possible, or B) actually safe. What does that mean to you exactly? Well, it means that if you started reading this article with the hopes of learning how to lose weight fast, you should now remove the idea from your mind completely. It either can't happen, or it shouldn't happen.

Instead, focus on your diet and your workout and the idea of losing a perfectly fine and healthy and expert recommended 1 or 2 pounds per week. Trust me, soon enough you'll be done losing weight and you'll be pretty happy that you didn't waste any time, effort, money, or health on trying to do it any quicker than it's meant to be done.

Lose Weight - 6 Easy Ways To Knock Weight Off Quickly

The tips below will help you lose weight fast and make sure that you do it quickly and in a healthy manner.

Avoid refined carbohydrates all day. Refined carbs such as baked goods, candy or overly processed snack foods break down super fast in your body and this causes a surge of insulin. When insulin is high your body increases it's ability to make body fat and slow fat burning.

Eat 5 meals a day. 3 main meals breakfast lunch and dinner and two snacks in between This will help you avoid hunger pangs. Make sure you eat breakfast, it's the most important meal of the day.

Man is a grazer not a binger and we need constant nourishment throughout the day.

Sleep may be the last thing on your crazy to-do list, but your body needs it to stay at a healthy weight. That's because, when you're sleep-deprived, you reach for unhealthy foods, like sugars and starches, to get a quick energy hit—even when you aren't hungry. Plus you never feel like exercising!

you must always work out at the same time regularly. Habit forming is the key. You should make it habit to work out in the same time on a regular basis. You can do this by promising yourself that you will work out regularly. In fact, you can make it as a regime, something that is already a part of your system. No matter how busy you are, if it has become a habit, it will not be easily broken. It will also be wise to seek the opinion of the experts on the proper exercises or sports fitted for you and your metabolism. Having friends work out with you can also add to the motivational factor.

Add protein to meals and snacks. Protein is key to helping you control fat. Not only does it help you control your hunger, it also stimulates the production of a hormone called glucagon which can help counter the fat making properties associated with insulin.

While you can eat 5 meals a day keep in mind portion size! The way to guage portion size is look at your fist. Make water your regular beverage of choice. Tea is a good option and even coffee is okay as long as you avoid adding sugar. Soda is not allowed. Stay away from sports drinks too. An occasional glass of juice is good so long as there is no sugar added. Check the ingredients. Lastly, if you like beer, especially lager, resist the urge---instead drink wine or liquor.

Want some rice? Then that's the amount you can have same goes for meat & fish and vegetables

Exercise Melts Body Fat

Exercise Melts Body Fat

If you want to reduce your body fat, focus on increasing the amount of exercise you get rather than decreasing your food intake. A recent national study was done using two groups of sedentary men, one group in their 20's and the other over age 65. A lot was learned from this accumulated data and it is interesting to note that there was a significant relationship between lack of physical activity and fat. Not surprisingly, the most sedentary men had the most body fat.

These studies have also indicated that the governments current recommended daily allowance for calories does not correlate with the body's actual energy needs. For example, although 2400 calories have been calculated for older men, they in fact burned an average of 2800 calories daily.

The leading experts now recommend that people who want to lose weight start increasing their physical activity. Just being more active in general (such as climbing the stairs instead of taking the elevator, moving around instead of sitting still, sitting up instead of lying down as well as showing some excitement and enthusiasm instead of boredom), are things that more effectively burns calories and reduces body fat. Everyone seems to have lost sight of the value of being active. Consider this, a half-hour aerobic workout accounts for far less energy expenditure than our minute-to-minute movement in the office or at home.

Millions of Americans are trying to lose weight, spending approximately $30 billion a year on diet programs and products, often they do lose some weight. But, if you check with the same people five years later, you will find that nearly all have regained whatever weight they lost. A national panel recently sought data to determine if any commercial diet program could prove long-term success. Not a single program could do so.Being seriously overweight and particularly obesity predisposes individuals to a number of diseases and serious health problems, and it's now a known fact that when caloric intake is excessive, some of the excess frequently is saturated fat.

People who diet without exercising often get fatter with time. Although your weight may initially drop while dieting, such weight loss consists mostly of water and muscle. When the weight returns, it comes back as fat. To avoid getting fatter over time, increase your metabolism by exercising regularly.

Walking is one of the best exercises for strengthening bones, controlling weight, toning the leg muscles, maintaining good posture and improving positive self-concept. To lose weight, it's more important to walk for time than speed. Walking at a moderate pace yields longer workouts with less soreness - leading t more miles and more fat worked off on a regular basis. High intensity walks on alternate days help condition one's system. But in a walking, weight-loss program, you are not requried to walk an hour every day as some people would have you believe.

When it comes to good health and weight loss, exercise and diet are inter-related. Exercising without maintaining a balanced diet is no more beneficial than dieting whle remaining inactive.

How To Lose Weight Fast

Critical Things To Know To Lose Weight Fast

Critical Things To Know To Lose Weight Fast
Leslie Lightfoot

Excess body fat may cause a person to develop certain cancerous ailments, hypertension, stroke and high levels of blood sugar. Doing away with the extra weight is crucial for one to experience good health. Some good tips to help you lose weight fast are as follows:

Aim at something: Build-up of fat over many years makes losing it a big challenge. It helps to have a goal to work towards. One good example is doing it to dazzle on the day you exchange vows with your loved one.

Be ready to make changes: You may have to forget those high caloric foods you enjoy eating the most. This may be necessary because weight reduction takes place when the body receives less calories than it requires. Making do without the food you love may be challenging but it is for a worthy cause.

Discipline Yourself: Losing excess weight requires a high level of discipline. Do not expect that there will be someone following you to monitor whether or not you are sticking to a prescribed diet. Fooling others during mealtimes by taking only greens then hiding yourself to enjoy a whole pizza does not work. The person you will be deceiving is only yourself.

Patience: It helps to exercise patience. Trying to find out the amount of kilos you have lost frequently can easily discourage you. You may not see much difference in the beginning so be patient and resist checking your weight too often.

Be stress free: A person cannot focus on the task at hand if they have issues bothering them in their minds. To be successful in this venture, it is imperative that one develops ways of relieving stress. Weight loss requires the cooperation of every part of your body including the mind.

While it can be possible to lose weight fast, keeping it at the required levels is another matter altogether. Eating healthy foods and undertaking physical exercise are the only way to achieve this. They must be part of what you eat and do daily.

Are You Drinking Enough Water?

Most people have no idea how much water they should be drinking, and most Americans live from day to day in a dehydrated state. They don't drink enough water. .

Without water, we would be poisoned to death by our own waste products and toxins resulting from metabolism..

Water is vital to digestion and metabolism, acting as a medium for various enzymatic and chemical reactions in the body. It carries nutrients and oxygen to the cells through the blood, regulates body temperature and lubricates our joints (which is particularly important if you're arthritic, have chronic muscular-skeletal problems or are athletically active).

We need water to breathe; we lose approximately one pint of liquid every day just by exhaling.

If you are not in "fluid balance" you can impair every aspect of your body's physiological functioning.

Dr. Howard Flaks, Beverly Hills:
"As a result of not drinking enough water, many people encounter such problems as excess body fat, poor muscle tone and size, decreased digestive efficiency and organ function, increased toxicity in the body, joint and muscle soreness (particularly after exercise) and water retention."

Proper water intake is the key to weight loss," says Dr. Donald Robertson, Scottsdale, Arizona. "If people who are trying to lose weight don't drink enough water, the body can't metabolize the fat, they retain fluid, which keeps their weight up, and the whole procedure we're trying to set up falls apart."

"I'd say the minimum amount of water a healthy person should drink is 10 eight-ounce glasses a day," he continues, "and you need to drink more if you are overweight, exercise a lot, or live in a hot climate. Overweight people should drink an extra eight ounces of water for each 25 pounds that exceeds their ideal weight."

Your water intake should be spread judiciously throughout the day, including the evening. Dr. Flaks cautions against drinking more than four glasses in any given hour. Always check with your physician before embarking on a water intake increase program.

You may ask, "If I drink this much water, won't I constantly be running to the bathroom?" Initially, yes, because of the hypersensitivity of the bladder to increased fluids. But after a few weeks, your bladder calms down, and you urinate less frequently, but in larger amounts.

There is a difference between pure water and other beverages that contain water.

Water is water. Obviously you can get it by consuming fruit juice, soft drinks, beer, coffee or tea. Unfortunately, while such drinks contain water, they also may contain substances that are not healthy and actually contradict some of the positive effects of the added water.

Dr. Jerzy Meduski, Los Angeles, California: "Beer contains water, but it also contains alcohol, which is a toxic substance. Beverages that contain caffeine, such as coffee, stimulate the adrenal glands; fruit juices contain a lot of sugar and stimulate the pancreas. Such drinks may tax the body more than cleanse it."

Another problem with these beverages is that you lose your taste for water.

The way to interpret all of this, therefore, is that the recommended daily water intake means just that--WATER!

Sensible Diet Tips

Start your diet with a food diary, record everything you eat, what you were doing at the time, and how you felt. That tells you about yourself, your temptation, the emotional states that encourage you to snack and may help you lose once you see how much you eat.

Instead of eating the forbidden piece of candy, brush your teeth. If you're about to cheat, allow yourself a treat, then eat only half a bite and throw the other half away. When hunger hits, wait 10 minutes before eating and see if it passes. Set attainable goals. Don't say, "I want to lose 50 pounds." Say, "I want to lose 5 pounds a month." Get enough sleep but not too much. Try to avoid sugar. Highly sweetened foods tend to make you crave more.

Drink six to eight glasses of water a day. Water itself helps cut down on water retention because it acts as a diuretic. Taken before meals, it dulls the appetite by giving you that "full feeling." Diet with a buddy. Support groups are important, and caring people can help one another succeed. Start your own, even with just one other person.

Substitute activity for eating. When the cravings hit, go to the "Y" or health club if possible; or dust, or walk around the block. This is especially helpful if you eat out of anger.

If the pie on the counter is just too great a temptation and you don't want to throw it away, freeze it. If you're a late-night eater, have a carbohydrate, such as a slice of bread of a cracker, before bedtime to cut down on cravings. Keep an orange slice or a glass of water by your bed to quiet the hunger pangs that wake you up.

If you use food as a reward, establish a new reward system. Buy yourself a non-edible reward. Write down everything you eat - - everything - including what you taste when you cook. If you monitor what you eat, you can't go off your diet.

Weigh yourself once a week at the same time. Your weight fluctuates constantly and you can weigh more at night than you did in the morning, a downer if you stuck to your diet all day. Make dining an event. East from your own special plate, on your own special placemat, and borrow the Japanese art of food arranging to make your meal, no matter how meager, look lovely. This is a trick that helps chronic over-eaters and bingers pay attention to their food instead of consuming it unconsciously.

Don't shop when you're hungry. You'll only buy more fattening food. Avoid finger foods that are easy to eat in large amounts. Avoid consuming large quantities of fattening liquids, which are so easy to overdo. And this includes alcoholic beverages. Keep plenty of crunchy foods like raw vegetables and air-popped fat-free popcorn on hand. They're high in fiber, satisfying and filling. Leave something on your plate, even if you are a charter member of the Clean The Plate Club. It's a good sign that you can stop eating when you want to, not just when your plate is empty.

Lose weight for yourself, not to please your husband, your parents or your friends. Make the kitchen off-limits at any time other than mealtime. Always eat at the table, never in front of the TV set or with the radio on. Concentrate on eating every mouthful slowly and savoring each morsel. Chew everything from 10 to 20 times and count! Never skip meals.

12 Keys To Super-Charging Your Metabolism For Weight Loss!

You hear it all the time - "metabolism", but what is it? It's the process of converting food to energy (movement and heat). Metabolism happens in your muscles and organs and the result of it is what we commonly refer to as "burning calories". Metabolism is essentially the speed at which your body's motor is running.

"Basal metabolism" is the metabolic rate or caloric expenditure needed to maintain basal body functions such as your heart beating, breathing, muscle tone, etc. It's how fast your "motor" is running when you're still in a reclined position or sleeping. Basal metabolism accounts for about 75% of the calories you expend on a daily basis!.

The good news is that there are 12 ways you can "boost" your metabolism! The more of these you're able to incorporate into your life, the more you'll boost your metabolism. That means you'll be expending ("burning") more calories 24 hours a day!.

•Always eat breakfast! Skipping breakfast sends the message to your body that you're starving because you haven't had food in 18+ hours. As a protective mechanism, your metabolism slows down. Food, especially complex carbohydrates, fuels your metabolism.
•Eat earlier in the day! Research has demonstrated that you can lose weight simply by eating a substantial breakfast and lunch, and a light dinner. Dinner should be eaten as early as possible, preferably at least four hours before bedtime.
•Never eat less than 1200 calories per day! Less than 1200 is usually not enough to support your basal metabolism and thus will slow your metabolism.
•Snack frequently! Complex carbohydrates (fruits, vegetables, and grains) fuel your metabolism. Also, snacking prevents you from becoming too hungry. The hungrier you are, the less control you have over what and how much you eat.
•Eat more carbohydrates (food from plants), and less fat (food from many animals and other food with added fat)! Carbohydrates boost your metabolism and have fewer calories per weight than fat.
•Do some type of aerobic exercise (walking, jogging, swimming, stationary cycling, aerobic dancing, etc.) on a daily basis (preferably in the morning)! Forget this twice-a-week stuff. Our bodies were designed to be active on a daily basis! When we are, our metabolism soars!
•In addition to your regular aerobic exercise, take a brisk 10 to 15 minute walk at lunch or in the evening. This serves to boost your metabolism even more!
•Tone your muscles with weight training three days per week. Toned muscles send your metabolism through the roof. Do it!

•Look for situations to be active. Park as far from the store as you can rather than looking for the closest parking spot. Use the stairs rather than the elevator, a broom rather than a blower, etc. Look for the "hard" way to do things!
•Avoid alcohol! Alcohol depresses your metabolism and stimulates your appetite.
•Drink 60+ ounces of water a day. Your metabolism needs plenty water to function properly. Carry a bottle of water with you and drink frequently throughout the day.
•Avoid the"3 P's".....pills, powders, and potions! There are NO quick fixes!

Get started today! You'll feel better and your metabolism will be in "great shape"!

Exercise In The Morning!

If I had to pick a single factor that I thought was most important in a successful exercise or weight loss program, it would be to exercise first thing in the morning... every morning! Some mornings, you may just be able to fit in a 10 minute walk, but it's important to try to do something every morning.

So why mornings?...

1. Over 90% of people who exercise *consistently*, exercise in the morning. If you want to exercise consistently, odds are in your favor if you exercise first thing in the morning.

2. When you exercise early in the morning, it "jump starts" your metabolism and keeps it elevated for hours, sometimes up to 24 hours! That means you're burning more calories all day long just because you exercised in the morning!

3. When you exercise in the morning you'll be *energized* for the day! Personally, I feel dramatically different on days when I have and haven't exercised in the morning.

4. Many people find that morning exercise "regulates" their appetite for the day...that they aren't as hungry and that they make better food choices. Several people have told me that it puts them in a "healthy mindset"

5. If you exercise at about the same time every morning... and ideally wake-up at about the same time on a regular basis, your body's endocrine system and circadian rhythms adjust to that, and physiologically, some wonderful things happen; A couple of hours *before* you awaken, your body begins to prepare for waking and exercise because it "knows" it's about to happen...why? because it "knows" you do the same thing just about everyday. You benefit from that in several ways...

a) It's MUCH easier to wake-up. When you wake-up at different times everyday, it confuses your body and thus it's never really "prepared" to awaken.

b) Your metabolism and all the hormones involved in activity and exercise begin to elevate while you're sleeping. Thus, you feel more alert, energized, and ready to exercise when you do wake-up.

c) Hormones prepare your body for exercise by regulating blood pressure, heart rate, blood flow to muscles, etc.

6. For many people, that appointed time every morning becomes something they look forward to. It's time they've set aside to do something good for themselves...to take care of their body and mind. Many find that it's a great time to think clearly, pray, plan their day, or just relax mentally.

7. Research has demonstrated that exercise increases mental acuity... on average it lasts four to ten hours after exercise! No sense in wasting that while you're sleeping. :)

8. Exercise first thing in the morning is really the only way to assure that something else won't crowd exercise out of your schedule. When your days get hectic, exercise usually takes a backseat!

9. If finding time to exercise is difficult, anyone can get up 30 to 60 minutes earlier to exercise (if it's a priority in your life). If necessary, you can go to sleep a little earlier. Also, research has demonstrated that people who exercise on a regular basis have a higher quality of sleep and thus require less sleep! :)

10. You'll feel GREAT! DO IT! :)
